The website with K2 component is actually a subdomain which is an archive of published articles we had from 2011 to 2020.
I made a duplicate of the K2 table content and renamed the columns according to the Joomla content table.
Then I copied the columns needed from the duplicate K2 content to Joomla content.
All I had to change were the categories assigned for each content, which I did manually.
I disabled K2.
This way I was able to upgrade the said site to Joomla 4.
